Volunteer Spotlight – Olive Chitty

Our volunteer spotlight this time is on Olive Chitty from class #34! She was amazed to discover the range of specialized Rescue Trucks equipped for extrication, search and rescue missions, and technical rescues. She hadn’t known that the Fire Department also has a Hazardous Materials unit. The highlight for her was witnessing the Lucas Device in action. Citizen Fire Academy Alumni help Ring the Bell for Salvation Army

Saturday November 25 was a blustery day in Georgia. The Gwinnett Citizen Fire Academy Alumni were out ringing the bell for the Salvation Army in front of Hobby Lobby in Lawrenceville that day. 8 volunteers spent the day greeting customers and wishing them Happy Holiday's as they passed. There were many generous patrons that day, who left a little something in the kettle. The Salvation Army helps those in need and everything that was collected will directly benefit our local community.
